A brand new start…

Since December, I began to gain weight. Week after week that darned number on my scale just kept creeping up and up and up. I became pretty upset and depressed over this so I started listening to what a dear friend of mine was talking about with Team Beachbody. I immediately fell in love with the Brazil Butt Lift and decided this is for me!

I’ve done other workout routines in the past but none have been as interesting and fun as this one. I became a Coach to get the special challenge pack for $160 which brought the workout and a month supply of Shakeology, the healthiest meal of the day®! The first thing I did was a 3-day cleanse where I drank Shakeology 3x a day with a fruit and a healthy dinner. In those 3 days I lost 3.8 pounds. My goal is to lose 15 more. I took a 60 day challenge and as of today, I am starting week 3.

I have been at the same weight on the scale since then but it’s not ONLY about those pounds! It’s about inches too. I’ve lost a few inches around my thighs and I’m not stopping there! All you have to do is go to Team Beachbody and see the results for yourself. What a great feeling to see and feel results. Since I’ve been eating different from before, anything that’s not good gives me heart burn. It’s amazing how your body begins to transform from within as well. It goes to show you what our bodies were really made to digest.

New Year’s Resolutions

I’ve decided that for 2012 I’m going to do something different. I’m NOT going to get myself involved in any “side” stuff. Through the years I became an Independent Sales Consultant for Mary Kay, then I started doing resumes, then I sold Avon, then my husband and I started our own soap business making old fashion soaps at home. Then I sold Mary Kay again and nothing ever really worked out. Not quite sure if it was because I just gave up or because it wasn’t for me. Since not being able to finish frustrated me and got me angry with myself, I decided NO MORE! I bought a few books, set up a corner in my house to read and I bought 2 canvas and some acrylic paint and I’ve painted 1 canvas so far. I’m taking my time and I don’t feel pressured :)

It’s also SO relaxing! I could not believe that day I spent 4 hours painting and listening to inspiring music.

What inspires you? Do whatever it is that makes you feel warm inside, it’s the only way you’ll finish what you start.

What is the meaning of ‘OM’

A lot of us have heard the word “OM” more recently than before and have wondered, what does it mean?! Well OM means “to sound out loudly”. It was written in Devanagari as ॐ and as ओम्, in Sanskrit known as praṇava प्रणव [lit.

Although Om symbolizes the most profound concepts of Hindu belief, it is in use daily. The Hindus begin their day or any work or a journey by uttering Om. The sacred symbol is often found at the head of letters, at the beginning of examination papers and so on. Many Hindus, as an expression of spiritual perfection, wear the sign of Om as a pendant. This symbol is enshrined in every Hindu temple premise or in some form or another on family shrines, says , About.com Guide.
OMs are used as mantras while chanting and meditating.

Parents: Relax before school starts!

So you’ve been busy these past few weeks store hopping to find the best back-to-school deals for your kids. Now it is time to reward yourself for all that hard work and dedication that you, as the wonderful parent that you are, so deserve! After standing in those long department lines during tax-free week you need a foot massage. After stopping at three different drug stores to grab the better deal on those composition books and #2 pencils, your muscles are begging for a Swedish massage session. If going to the spa is not your thing, no problem. I’ve put together a few different kinds of ways you can enjoy your much deserved and much needed relaxation!

  • Go to a local spa and ask if they are running any back-to-school promotions. Book a 1-hour minimum full body massage if possible. Not only do your extremities get tired and exhausted but so does the rest of your body. From your head all the way down to your toes, every part feels the strain(s). A massage will help you unwind and loosen up those tight muscles that love to tighten up at the wrong moments.
  • If you’re a mani/pedi type gal, make an appointment at your favorite nail salon and set your away response for at least an hour. Sit back and allow them to pamper you for a little bit (take a good book to read).
  • Dust it down, check the tires and grab your helmet. Take that cruiser out for a little spin around the neighborhood or if you’re feeling so inclined, throw it in your trunk and head out to your favorite park where you can spend the next few hours, bicycling down a relaxing scenic route.
  • Grab your towel, flip-flops, sun block, hat and water and head out to the beach or the pool. Enjoy soaking up some sun (while your skin enjoys the Vitamin D) and feel the warmth on your skin. If it gets too hot, don’t forget to reapply sunscreen every 30 minutes or so and take a dip in the water. There’s nothing like cooling off in the sun!
  • If you don’t feel like going any where far, no need to worry. Drive down to your local coffee shop or farmer’s market and just relax while enjoying nature and a good cup of coffee or tea. Try not to think so much about the time and just enjoy your no-worry free time, you deserve it!!

Reiki on Animals

It is totally crazy that I think at 35, I’m finally realizing some of my purposes in life. I’ve always had this love and fascination for animals. As a young child, I spent my days in my backyard chasing lizards and black ants. Later on, I grew up with fish, birds and dogs. My father built this pretty tall cage that imprisoned finches and parakeets I believe. We also had hamsters after we no longer had fish (we used the tank for the hamsters). I’ve owned a total of 5 cats and 7 dogs. I’ve always gotten along with other animals and I’ve always loved them. I even wanted to be a Veterinarian when I grew up…but never did. Even though I wasn’t able to keep all of my pets from birth to death, I loved them all unconditionally. I can’t help it, it’s in me!

I figured, performing Reiki on animals should be an instant connection for me, being that I’m already at a higher level with animals. You will be amazed to see how a Reiki Healing session helps to discover just how happy, receptive and relaxed your pet can become within seconds of the treatment beginning. They feel safe and therefore vulnerable to this energy and sense of peace they are receiving from me. It’s a great feeling for me, for the animal and ultimately for its owner.

Three Sacred Reiki Symbols

Symbols have an extremely important role to play in Reiki healing. They are the keys that help unlock Reiki’s full potential. Reiki symbols do not have to be used when performing Reiki on someone but it is suggested as it strengthens and helps focus its energy.

These next three sacred Reiki symbols are learned and taught at the second degree. The fourth is learned and taught at the masters level. Once I have completed my training, I will share the fourth sacred symbol.

The first sacred symbol is the Cho Ku Rei. Cho means cut; Ku means to penetrate; and Rei means universal. It is often called the “light switch” of the symbols because it is the one which activates the others.

The second symbol is Sei Heiki. Sei means birth and Heiki means balance; equilibrium.  This symbol can be used in conjunction with Cho Ku Rei to create a sandwich which helps alleviate emotional or mental blocks.

The third symbol is the Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen. Hon is the combination of the first five strokes called Kanji. Kanji means Japanese writing using Chinese characters. Sha means a person that creates. Ze means harmony. Sho means right or correct and Nen means the heart or thought. Nen also means being in the present moment, in the now. The Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen is more complex than the two preceding it. When drawn, it takes 16 strokes which all signify something unique. When used a sandwich with the other two symbols, Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen can be sent back to the past and help heal a childhood matter.

My Reiki Attunement Ceremony

Today I will begin my Reiki journey with an attunement, or initiation. I am preparing my journey now by lighting incense and a candle and the room is comfortable. I am going to play and listen to Heartbeat music. When I am ready to begin, I will chant, “I ask the universal life force to connect me with Garry and Adele Malone and participate in this sacred attunement ceremony. I am ready to accept the Reiki Attunements” and allow the connection through vibration between myself and Garry & Adele Malone.

I will now prepare to begin my attunement which will last me FOR LIFE!

Forty five minutes later…

During my experience, I was interrupted by my dogs barking and had to move out of my comfort spot a few times before getting back into it. There were moments I felt a part of the left side of my face twitching, tingling on my head and neck and heat radiating from my hands. After a while, I had to lay down because I was uncomfortable sitting on the chair. I started falling into a deeper state of relaxation once I laid down. I felt the connection a few times come and go. I hope I connected with the universal life force through Garry and Adele Mallone!

Top Health Benefits of T’ai Chi

Listen to some Reiki-Meditation music while reading about T’ai Chi and how it can improve your overall health & lifestyle.

T’ai Chi, or Taiji, Tai Chi Chuan, is an ancient form of Martial Arts originating in China. It has made its way to the western world and has become one of the most popular martial arts. T’ai Chi is best known for all of its health benefits. Unlike engaging in an exercise routine that requires expensive and space-consuming equipment, all you need to participate in T’ai Chi is mind & soul.

Benefits include, but are not limited to:

  • stress reduction
  • improved circulation
  • the lessening of arthritic and other pain
  • an increase in flexibility
  • lowered blood pressure
  • improved balance
  • increase energy
  • strengthen bones, muscles and joints
  • prevent age-related ill health
  • better quality of sleep

…and more! One form of exercise that is recommended for people with osteopenia and osteoporosis is T’ai Chi because of its slow and non-strenuous movements. I tried out Simply Tai Chi [With DVD] by authors Graham Bryant & Lorraine James and I think it’s great for beginners, check it out on Amazon.com below. They both are very patient and compliment each others’ moves. The background music is serence and peaceful and even though it will take time and practice to get these swift moves down packed, it sure is worth it. One of the first things I felt was the energy I had on my palms. The energy that radiated down to my hands and out as I pushed the negative energy out of my body. It was a great feeling. I feel much closer to healing.
